Two Palestinian siblings killed in Israeli airstrike on Gaza

Tragedy struck early Saturday when fragments from a missile fired by an Israeli aircraft claimed the lives of a six-year-old Palestinian girl and her 10-year-old brother in the Gaza strip.

According to sources, the fragments from the explosion which took place in the early hours of Saturday morning pierced through the home of the kids located in Beit Lahiya.

Spokesperson for Gaza’s Ministry of Health, Ashraf al-Qidra, told Al Jazeera that the girl, Israa Abu Khosa, died in hospital later in the day of the incident having succumbed to critical injuries sustained during the attack.

Her brother Yassin died earlier, and was the first fatality from an air strike in Gaza since October.

Their brother, 13-year-old Ayoub Abu Khosa, sustained moderate injuries from the attack.

The Israeli airstrike took place hours after rockets were launched at southern Israel on Friday night, according to the Israeli military.
