In from Nifemi Daniel …
Nigeria U-17 national team coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, has vowed that the Golden Eaglets will defend the FIFA U-17 World Cup after being drawn in the same group with host Chile, Croatia and USA in the tournament’s group stage.
Nigeria is the defending champions and the most successful team at the cadet World Cup with four titles under their belt.
They will start their campaign against the Americans before going on to face the hosts and then Croatia.
“We are the defending champions and we must be ready to play any team,” he said, adding he was upbeat about his team’s chances to defend their World Cup title.
“I think our group, like the rest, is not an easy one and we were not expecting anything less. We know there will not be any easy game for us and we have to redouble our efforts and continue to prepare well,” he added.
Aside Nigeria, three other countries are representing Africa at the 2015 edition of the FIFA U-17 World Cup taking place from October 17 to November 28, 015.

For Mali, they are in Group D where they will battle Belgium, Honduras and Ecuador.
For debutants, South Africa, they are in Group E with Costa Rica, Korea DPR and Russia.
For many, the toughest group, usually named “Group of Death” – is Group C which contains European and South American powerhouses Germany and Argentina, as well as Australia and Mexico.
The FIFA U-17 World Cup is scheduled to hold between October 17 and November 8.
