Ujah, Akpom on target in Europe

Nigerian strikers, Anthony Ujah and Chuba Akpom, at the weekend opened their goals account for their respective clubs, Werder Bremen and Hull City.
Ujah scored for Bremen in their 2-0 win against Wurzburger Kickers in a DFB-Pokal First round game played at the Flyeralarm Arena on Saturday, while Akpom was on target for Hull City in their 2-0 win over Huddersfield, also on Saturday, in the English Championship.
Ujah’s 102nd strike plus Fin Bartels’ goal six minutes later handed Viktor Skrypnyk’s men a hard fought win against the German third division outfit in the German Cup.
The 24-year-old Ujah, who scored 10 goals in the Bundesliga last season, joined the Weserstadion outfit for an undisclosed fee. And he would be hoping to better his tally from last season when Bremen hosts Schalke 04 this weekend in one of the opening games of the 2015/16 Bundesliga campaign.

Akpom, meanwhile, scored for Hull City in the 72nd minute to seal his team’s victory against Huddersfield in a game that saw Super Eagles star, Sone Aluko, making a 65th minute entry into the game for the Tigers, who were relegated from the English Premier League at the end of last season.
Other Nigerians on target in England included Adedeji Oshilaja and Emmanuel Osadebe, who were both on target for Gillingham as they pummelled Sheffield Wednesday 4-0, and Jonathan Obika, who was on the scorers’ sheet for Swindon Town in their 4-1 win over Branford City.
