Viral videos claim soldiers invaded Kanu's home, kill four, kidnap his father

Two videos which have surfaced online claim that soldiers on Thursday evening invaded the Umuahia home of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra’ (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu.

The video which source has not been verified also claimed that a number of people were killed in the process.
Yet to be confirmed reports however claimed that more than 18 people may have been killed during the Thursday invasion of the Afara-Ukwu, Umuahia country home of the IPOB leader.
It was also alleged that his father, a traditional ruler, Israel Kanu, was whisked away by the soldiers while the whereabouts of Kanu is unknown.
The videos which were sighted by Ripples Nigeria, showed the corpse of four people said to have been shot by the soldiers, while another one depicted gunshot fires said to be the soldiers trying to break into the compound.

No soldier, or anything depicting the Nigerian army was however seen in any of the videos, except for the person doing the recording who severally claimed “the soldiers are here”, they are trying to break in”, Nigerian army are here killing our people”.

The invasion reportedly took place at about 5.30pm soon after Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu ended his media briefing where he announced that there will be a gradual withdrawal of soldiers from the streets of Aba and Umuahia.

The two separate videos are already trending on the social media showing the invasion. One depicts the inside of the compound with a voice shouting “they are here, the Nigerian Army is at the home of Nnamdi Kanu,” they are trying to break in. inside.” Gun shots were heard being fired outside the compound.

The second video is the scene of the coumpound after the incident which showed some of the persons allegedly killed during the onslaught at the home.

The soldiers were said to have barricaded all the entrances leading to Nnamdi Kanu’s house and fired gunshots sporadically while the operation in the house lasted for more than 30 minutes. During the operation, it was further gathered that the Palace of Nnamdi Kanu’s father was desecrated as the soldiers ransacked and searched all nooks and crannies of the house.

The Nigeria Army is yet to react to the allegation as at the time of this report.

    The Nigerian soldiers will never operate in such unprofessional way. If they invaded Kanu’s house truly, Kanu would have been arrested or dead by now

      Nigerian soldiers are never professional, the have never been! Professionalism is missing in them, they stormed Kanu’s house as seen in the video.

    The Nigerian army cannot stop so low to storm Kanu’s house without arresting him, I so much believe in the Nigerian army’s ability to execute mission without missing it.

    It isn’t funny how they think they will get Kanu at all, they cannot get to him. Kanu is a man we all love, it would rather turn to war than to rearrest him again.

    Who video the incident? If there is real crisis, he will definitely have no idea of videoing, so this is a fake video
