FIFA BAN: Chris Giwa to launch appeal
Following the worldwide ban of Christopher Giwa and four other Nigerian officials from football-related activities by FIFA on Tuesday, Giwa has made known his intentions of filing an appeal.
Giwa was the founder of a rival faction in the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), which caused the problems that surfaced in April, 2016 when a Federal High Court sitting in Jos, Plateau state, ordered that the administration of Amaju Pinnick vacate the Glass House for Giwa to take charge temporarily.
In an attempt to curtail the chaos, FIFA wrote a letter threatening to ban the NFF from all international engagements if the court injunction was carried out. Then in May, NFF placed a five-year ban on Christopher Giwa Muazu Suleyman, Yahaya Adama, Sani Fema and Johnson Effiong for breaches of the NFF Statutes.

FIFA said in a statement on its website on Tuesday that the bans would apply worldwide, but Giwa claims there has not been a ‘direct communication’ with them.
“They [Fifa] have not communicated to us directly and reading something on Fifa’s website is not a direct communication,” Giwa told BBC Sport.
“Once we hear from Fifa then we will take the necessary steps and we cannot rule out filing an appeal with Court of Arbitration for Sport over something so excessive.”
