2019: Imo APC denies endorsement of Okorocha’s son-in-law

Following spate of endorsements going on in Imo state for governorship aspirants ahead of 2019 general election, the Imo State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Hilary Ekeh yesterday debunked claims that the party had adopted Chief Uche Nwosu, Governor Rochas Okorocha’s son-in-law as its governorship candidate for the party.

Governor Rochas Okorocha had last week endorsed his son in-law and Chief of Staff, Chief Uche Nwosu as his ‘worthy successor’, while mentioning his commissioner for Information, Prof. Nnamdi Obiaraeri; his SSG, Sir George Eche and deputy speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Ugonna Ozuruigbo as the party’s candidates for their senatorial and federal constituencies.

But Ekeh said “APC has not conducted primaries and I want to let you know that in politics, you have a right to endorse or support anybody you like. But it must be noted that the party has not in any way adopted anybody as candidate. And I want to let you know that it is not unusual to see people endorsing or adopting their own candidates.”
