21-yr-old arrested in Katsina for kidnapping six-yr-old boy
The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old man, Halilu Yusuf, for allegedly kidnapping a six-year-old boy.
The police spokesman in the state, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on Wednesday in Katsina.
According to Aliyu, “On August 17, at about 2pm, based on credible intelligence, the command succeeded in arresting Halilu Yusuf, 21, of Gezawa, via Shinkafi village, in connection with a suspected case of kidnapping a six-year-old.”
The suspect allegedly lured and kidnapped the victim, who is the son of his mentor, from Kofar-Sauri quarters, and demanded a N2m ransom from the father.

The police spokesman revealed that the suspect slept with the boy in his room and then took him to another place for safekeeping, unaware that police operatives were trailing him. The suspect made an anonymous phone call to inform the father of his son’s abduction, which led to the police quickly mobilizing operatives to rescue the victim.
“The team successfully traced and arrested the suspect, and the victim was rescued unhurt,” Aliyu said.
During the investigation, the suspect allegedly confessed to the crime and will be charged to court after the completion of the investigation, Aliyu added.
