21-yr-old terror suspect arrested by German police

A 21-year-old man who is suspected of planning a militant attack has been arrested during a raid by German police.

According to incoming reports, the case of the arrested suspect who as nabbed at an apartment in the western city of Neuss on Saturday is being linked to a second suspect in Vienna, the capital of Austria.

Spokesman for the Criminal Investigation Office (LKA) said Special Forces police arrested the man and a woman during the raid but the woman, identified in media reports as the man’s wife, has been released.

German authorities have been on high alert since a failed asylum seeker from Tunisia rammed a truck into a Christmas market last month in Berlin, killing 12 people.

Last month, authorities in Germany detained a Tunisian man who allegedly helped Anis Amri, (the Berlin Christmas market attacker) who was gunned down by Italian police in Milan for his role in the market attack.

The 40-year-old suspect, according to Germany’s federal prosecutor in a statement was detained and “could have been involved in the attack” on the Berlin Christmas market.
