45 feared dead as suicide bomber targets lawyers in Pakistan
No less than 45 people lost their lives and scores wounded when a suicide bomber attacked a group of mourning lawyers who were gathered to accompany the remains of a murdered colleague.
According to Rehmat Saleh Baloch, health minister for the Balochistan province, the incident reportedly occurred at the accident and emergency department of a hospital in Quetta, Pakistan.
The health minister also expressed fears that the death toll could rise further, as more than 50 others were wounded in the attack.
In his comments following the incident, Balochistan Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti said: “The blast occurred after a number of lawyers and some journalists had gathered at the hospital following the death of the president of the Balochistan Bar Association in a separate shooting incident early this morning.”
