FORFEITED FUNDS: APC In UK refers to Patience Jonathan as ‘greedy monster’

The Bauchi State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) may have reignited the unending power tussle in the state as it has decried the inefficient management of the state financial resources under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government.

The party, in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Public Relations Officer (PRO) in Bauchi, Adamu Jallah, claimed that the PDP-led administration has plunged the state into bankruptcy in less than six months in office.

The party lamented that the state government now finds it difficult to pay monthly salaries as at when due.

The APC’s comment could be seen as a reaction to the state Governor, Bala Mohammed’s recent outburst over the state of Bauchi finance and other economic indices.

A few weeks after his inauguration, Mohammed described his predecessor, Mohammed Abubakar, as the “most financially reckless” governor in the history of Bauchi State.

However, the APC has countered Mohammed’s claim, saying the governor’s inefficiency has stalled the development of the state.

The statement read: “It could be recalled that during the gubernatorial campaign, the PDP had accused the APC- led administration of expending N5.1 billion on monthly salaries of civil servants (state and local governments) without a convincing reason.

“Ironically, within 100 days of assuming power, the same PDP cried aloud that the wage/salary bill of the state civil servants was over N6 billion and by then, no political appointment was made and the state House of Assembly was not inaugurated but yet, the PDP announced that the salary bill was already over N6 billion.

“Within two months in office, the salary bill has reached an alarming and unbelievable over N7 billion with only few appointments made while those appointments into the civil service made by the APC administration and promotions of deserving civil servants were cancelled and excluded from the N7 billion claim.”
