Suspected pipeline vandals went on the offensive on Wednesday killing nine security personnel at Arepo, Ogun State.

Details of the incident are still sketchy.

Arepo plays host to a network of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipelines and has always been a ‘fertile land’ for illegal bunkers.

On several occasions, Arepo has witnessed gun duels between security agents and vandals as the former tried to checkmate illegal bunkering in the area.
