Army recovers APC captured by Boko Haram

The Nigerian Army have announced the recapture of an Armoured Personnel Carrier, APC, of the Army from Boko Haram.

The APC was said to have been captured by the insurgents on July 9, 2015, when they attacked Buni Yadi in Yobe State.

This was disclosed by the Acting Director, Army Public Relation, Col. Sani Usman on Wednesday, adding that the APC was discovered by the Golgore River and has been evacuated from the area.

According to Usman, troops of the 120 Task Force Battalion, carried out the operation and also destroyed the camps of the insurgents at Bulasari. He added that an unspecified number of insurgents were killed during the operation while a soldier sustained gunshot wounds.

“In continuation of the clearance operations of remnants of Boko Haram terrorists’ reported locations and hideouts by the military, troops of 120 Task Force Battalion cleared the  camp at Bulasari. This is coming after clearing Golgore camp yesterday, Tuesday, 15th March 2016.

“During the operation, quite a number of the Boko Haram terrorists were killed, while one of our soldiers sustained gunshot wound. The soldier’s condition is stable and is currently being managed at Damaturu General Hospital.

“One of the most significant aspects of the operation was the recovery of Nigerian Army Armoured Personnel Carrier earlier captured by the terrorists during an attack on Buni Yadi on 9th July 2015. The APC was discovered at Golgore River line and it has since been evacuated,” Usman said.
