Biafra: Court adjourns Kanu's trial to April 26

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, has adjourned the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu’s, till April 26.

Kanu’s trial was expected to continue before Justice James Tsoho on Tuesday, but the judge adjourned the case after counsel to Kanu, Chuks Muoma, SAN, applied for a stay of proceedings pending the hearing and determination of the appeal filed by the defence challenging the court’s ruling delivered on March 7.

The court, had on that date granted the request of the Federal Government to shield witnesses.

The prosecutor had argued that the witnesses lined up by the Federal Government claimed they had been threatened by associates of the accused persons should they testify in the court, adding that they would only testify if they were assured of their personal safety.

Justice James Tsoho has therefore adjourned ruling on the stay of proceedings to April 26.
