FG slams fresh charges of terrorism on Kanu, 3 others
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has accused security agents of plotting to kill its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
According to IPOB, security agents fired teargas canisters into Kanu’s cell during the Monday riot at the Kuje Prison in Abuja with the aim of suffocating him to death.
Emma Powerful, the spokesman for the group, stated this in a statement on Monday.
According to IPOB, the Federal Government and the Department of State Services, DSS, working through prison authorities, have perfected arrangements to kill Kanu and others who are with him.
It also alleged that the Kuje Prison authorities separated those who have misunderstanding with fellow inmates, adding that there were teargas and gun shots into Kanu ‘s cell for him to die systematically.
The statement read: “However, we observed that the government and its security agents through their prison warders orchestrated the violence in the prison in order to have excuses to eliminate Kanu.
“The orchestrated violence to be executed by prison warders started when the security agents shot sporadically towards the doors and windows where our leader Mazi Kanu and two other IPOB members were being detained.
“The prison officials went to search some prison inmates whose cells were very far from where Kanu and two others were kept but all of a sudden, they started shooting live bullets towards the direction where our leader was  kept. The cannon of teargas was thrown inside the room that he stays.
“Right now, we don’t know the condition of our leader and others detained  with him.
“We are calling on the international community, the United Nations UN, the African Union AU, lovers of freedom, Amnesty International, AI, Human Rights watch/NGO’s and  well-meaning Nigerians who understand the meaning of self-determination to come to our rescue because right now, we don’t know the condition of our leader.
“We, however, call on the agents of darkness in our midst and in Biafraland and government to look for another place because IPOB under Kanu is intact, no factions or crises within us and nobody can divide this group which has the divine mandate to liberate the people of Biafra from the shackles of slavery and bondage.”
