Bode George predicts doom for PDP if…

Ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention, Chief Olabode George has said the party may be doomed if it makes a wrong choice.

According to the former deputy national chairman of the PDP, appointing someone, who had no understanding of the direction and manifesto of the party as the next national chairman would be disastrous for the party in the 2019 general elections.

The party chieftain who said this in Lagos added that the party’s performance in 2019 presidential elections will be determined by who emerges as its national chairman.

He said, “The chairmanship position coming to the South means if the party is serious, the party must look for a credible, responsible and respectable person, who has the network and experience. “It has to be a person who has the details of the party and not some ‘’bambino.’’

“The PDP must avoid going from frying pan into the fire and bring an appropriate person, anybody lower than the level of the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), will be inappropriate. We have to get somebody that will be at par in political experience and understanding of the tenets of the party.’’

The national caucus of the Ahmed Makarfi-led crisis ridden PDP, had on July 14, met in Abuja and agreed that the next national chairman of the party would come from the southern part of the country.

The party’s convention will hold in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital on August 17 and Chief George is from South West, where the next chairman has been zoned to.

He is said to be eyeing the position insisting that a very experienced person must be the choice of the party for its survival.
