Two people were reportedly killed on Monday in a clash that ensued from the protest of the members of Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), popularly known as Shiites.

Reports say that part of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, building in Abuja was set ablaze by the protesting mob.

The Shiite members were said to be protesting the immediate release of their leader, Ibrahim Elzakzaky, but allegedly embarked on vandalizing properties after police decided to disrupt their protest.

The protest, which began from NITEL junction at Wuse 2, was disrupted by armed policemen who had cordoned off the road leading to the National Assembly and three arms zone.
