CBN gov, Emefiele, joins race for presidency, picks N100m APC nomination form

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, on Friday joined the 2023 presidential race.

The CBN governor picked the All Progressives Congress (APC) nomination and expression of interest forms at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja earlier on Friday.

The development came several weeks after reports emerged that Emefiele had concluded plans to join the presidential race.

His posters had appeared in strategic locations across the country in the last few weeks.

Emefiele’s decision to vie for the presidency brought the number of aspirants vying for the APC presidential ticket to 15.

The Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Nigeria, Pastor Tunde Bakare, picked up the ruling party’s forms on Thursday.

Other APC presidential aspirants are the APC National Chairman, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, his Ebonyi State counterpart, Dave Umahi, and former Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha.

The rest are – Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, his Labour and Employment counterpart, Chris Ngige, Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, former Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi and former National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole.
