British PM arrives Nigeria, meets Buhari

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Theresa May, has arrived in Nigeria and currently in a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

May arrived Nigeria this afternoon as part of her visit to some African countries. She was in South Africa on Tuesday, where she described Nigeria as home to the more very poor people in the entire world.

Both leaders are expected to discuss on issues bothering on security challenges in Nigeria, economy, and coming 2019 general elections, among other issues during.

The Presidency had in an earlier tweet on its official Twitter handle wrote: “This afternoon President @MBuhari will welcome UK Prime Minister @theresa may to the State House, Abuja. The two leaders will hold discussions, as well as sign vital defence and economic agreements involving Nigeria and the UK. #AsoVillaToday”

The British leader left the State House about 40 minutes later after meeting behind closed-doors with President Buhari.

She was accompanied out of the premises with the normal funfare of the Brigade Band playing to her delight.

There was however no press briefing after the meeting between both leaders as is usually in such events.
