Buhari writes Senate for confirmation of Yakubu

Less than 24 hours after announcing the appointment of Professor Mahmood Yakubu as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, President Muhammadu Buhari, Thursday, requested the Senate, via a letter to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, to confirm him and the new National Commissioners, whose appointments were approved by the Council of State on Wednesday.

The President, in the letter, requested the Senate to confirm Prof. Mahmud Yakubu as chairman of the commission, Mrs Amina Zakari, Dr Anthonia Okosi, Mr Baba Shettima, Dr Muhammadu Lekki, and Mr Soyebi Solomon as commissioners.
