Buhari is misunderstood, says Tsav

Since he started his appointments and subsequent war against corruption after resuming power on May 29, President Muhammadu Buhari has come under intense criticisms by many people who claim that he is biased towards the Northerners and witch-hunting the opposition members.
But former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Abubaka Tsav, has disagreed with this perception saying Nigerians don’t understand the mission of the president.
In an interview with Ripples, Tsav maintained that the country has been so destroyed in the past years that it would only require the person of Buhari’s caliber to salvage it.
“Buhari has not done anything wrong. The country is eaten up by corruption. Everybody is involved in corruption but I am sure President Buhari will do his best”, he said.
On the appointments so far, Tsav added that it was natural for the president to first appoint people who would not betray his trust in them.
He said the agitation about the appointments so far was unnecessary stressing that the ministerial appointments would definitely reflect the aspirations of the Nigerians.
He argued that the delay in the appointment of the ministers was just to avoid pitfalls of the past and to bring people who he could trust to deliver on board.

“The president has promised to appoint his minsters before the end of the month. Let’s wait and see. If he fails then we can start complaining”, he said.
The former police boss faulted the incessant criticisms by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying it is just ‘making a noise’ because it did not believe that it would be in the opposition.
“The PDP has never been in opposition before that is why its members are making noise”, he said.
Tsav, however, has a piece of advice for the president saying, “he should not see himself as president of APC but of the whole Nigeria and should carry everybody along”.
