Business mogul urges Trump to intervene in diplomatic row between Qatar, Gulf states

Akbar Al Baker, the CEO of Qatar Airways has urged US President Donald Trump to intervene in the ongoing diplomatic row between his country and other Gulf states.

Akbar said he expects Trump’s intervention “to make sure that this blockade is lifted soonest…especially since he knows that we are part of his alliance against terrorism.”

The CEO who was speaking at the Paris Air Show, called the blockade illegal. He said “People will not forget” and also warned that the sanction imposed on his country by neighbouring Gulf countries “will leave a lasting wound.”

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain cut ties with Qatar this month and blocked air, sea and land traffic with Qatar over its alleged support for Islamist groups and ties with Iran.
