Chained boy, Korede, adopted by Ogun State govt

Luck has finally smiled on nine-year-old Korede Taiwo who was chained in a room and starved by his pastor father for over a month, as the Ogun State government has adopted him.

According to the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Modupe Mojuta, who made the disclosure in Abeokuta, the state capital, the state government would take care of the young boy’s educational needs among others.

Mojuta stated this when the wife of the Governor, Mrs Olufunso Amosun and other members of the State Executive Council paid a visit to the boy.

Speaking also during the visit, the Commissioner for Justice, Olumide Ayeni, disclosed that the state government has commenced a legal process to bring to justice, all actors in the case of Korede Taiwo to serve as a deterrent to others.

Korede is being treated for abuse and chronic malnutrition at the Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba in Abeokuta.

He is said to be in good condition and responding to treatment.

It would be recalled that Korede was rescued by officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, after they were alerted by neighbours to the plight of the boy.

His father, Francis Taiwo, who pastors tje Key of Joy Celestial Church of Christ in the Ajibawo area of Atan-Ota, took to his heels but was latter arrested in his church on Sunday with the help of his church members.
