PDP throws position of national Chairman open to the South

Confusion is at the moment trailing the planned local government election in Adamawa State, as two factions of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have commenced the sale of nomination forms to aspirants wishing to contest the elections in June.

According to reports, the former state executive of the party under Chief Joel Madaki has been selling the forms to aspirants just as the new executive that emerged during last week’s state congress of the party under the leadership of Alhaji Bobboi Umar had also commenced sale of the forms.

The Madaki-led executive, which claims to still have one more year to go in its tenure, is selling the nomination forms for N170, 000 and N50,000 for chairmanship and councillorship respectively while the Umar-led executive is selling chairmanship form for N110,000 and that of councillorship for N35,000.

The Madaki faction’s Organizing Secretary, Malam Abdullahi Prambe, has also warned aspirants against purchasing nomination forms from the Umar-led executive, saying their emergence was unconstitutional.

However, the Umar-led executive said the conduct of state congress in Yola by a committee from Abuja last week signified the end of the Madaki executive, adding that those who purchased forms from Madaki executive should tender their bank teller and receipt to the new executive to be captured in upcoming party primaries.
