Conte impressed as Chelsea secure comeback win against Watford

Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte has praised his players’ “attitude to fight and change situation” after they came from behind to win 4-2 against Watford.

In the week 9 Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, the Blues scored two late goals to claim the dramatic victory which ended a three-game winless run.

Goals by Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure and Roberto Pereyra had put the visitors 2-1 ahead, cancelling Pedro’s 12th-minute opener, before Mitchy Batshuayi headed an equaliser for Chelsea midway through the second half.

Cesar Azpilicueta then headed the Blues 3-2 in front in the 87th minute before Batshuayi sealed the victory on 95 minutes.

“The performance was a good performance because to concede the equaliser at the end of the first and then go down in first part of the second half, our confidence in that moment was low,” Conter said after the game.

“But my players showed me that we have the attitude to fight and change the situation and get a different result. It was very important.

“It is not simple because we are facing difficult situations but the spirit and commitment is right. I’m satisfied for the performance.”

Victory takes Chelsea above Watford into third in the table. The Champions will host Everton next Wednesday in the Carabao Cup.
