Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili has commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his efforts towards curtailing and combating the spread of the dreaded coronavirus in Lagos State.

The politician cum activist took to her official Twitter page on Thursday to express delight at the efforts put in by Sanwo-Olu since the outbreak of coronavirus in the state and also for proving his worth as a good leader.

Ezekwesili in the Twitter post said that Sanwo-Olu has shown impressive leadership in the past few days and has filled the gap of the ‘absent central leadership’ led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The former minister wrote thus on Twitter: “There must be many Nigerians who like me daily applaud the Governor of Jide Sanwo-Olu for the impressive political leadership he’s showing at a sub-national level.

“You, Mr. Governor have been an effective gap-filler for an absent Central leadership. We thank you,” she added.

Her comments come after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday confirmed 14 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the country.

The centre, which disclosed this on its twitter handle, said the fresh discoveries bring to 65 the total number of infections in the country.
