Corps members to benefit from new minimum wage

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has confirmed that members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) would also enjoy the new minimum wage of N30,000.

The minister confirmed the upward review of the monthly allowance of N19, 800 via his official Twitter handle on Wednesday evening.

He tweeted; “New Minimum Wage: NYSC members to enjoy new minimum wage/allowee Details coming …”

Dare added that the NYSC Director General, Brig Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim, would provide details.

“Next week the DG NYSC will provide details of the new allowee for the Youth Corp members after full briefing from the Ministries of Finance And MYSD”. He stated.

The Federal Executive Council had during its weekly meeting on Wednesday, directed the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed to effect payment of minimum wage on or before 31st December, 2019.
