Two men identified as Innocent Ikpe (38) and Elochukwu Nkwocha (25) were brought before an Ikeja Magistrate Court for their alleged attempt on the lives of a pair of twins identified as Taiye and Kehinde Ilori.

They were both allegedly stabbed by Ikpe and Nkwocha on the chest and stomach, and were both left with grave injuries that required surgery.

While spelling out charges against the suspects, the prosecutor said; “That you Innocent Ikpe (38) and Elochukwu Nkwocha (25) at 37 Daudu Street, Oshodi in Ikeja Magisterial District did attempt to murder one Taiye Ilori of 12 Adeke Thomas Street, Lagos and one Kehinde Ilori of the same address by stabbing them with knives and iron rods in the stomach, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 228 of the Criminal Laws, Lagos State, Nigeria 2011.”

However, Ikpe and Nkwocha both pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against them and were both granted bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties who must have a proof of means of livelihood.

The guarantors must also have tax clearance as well as verifiable official and residential addresses. Their bank statement for two years must also be presented to the court.

Same thing I think , it is not possible for them to just have stabbed them without no prior beef between them.

The police and the court are partial. Do they try to investigate what the twins did to those alleged murderer too. No smoke without fire.

The way the court give judgements at times are questionable, why on earth will two men who attempted to kill twins be granted of N200,000 each? They ought to face more than this.

No doubt, the judge was sleeping when he gave the pronouncement… N200K isn’t punishment.
