Court orders detention of 50-yr-old man who admitted he raped 5-yr-old

Vice Principal bags life imprisonment over rape of 12-yr-old student

A Gudu Upper Area Court in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT has ordered the detention of a 70-year-old man identified as Teacher Senior, of Area 11, Garki who admitted in court that he actually raped a 5-year-old girl.

According to a report by NAN, the prosecutor, Joshua Ayanna revealed that the victims mother Hauwa Hamin of Kubwa Phase IV lodged a compliant at Garki police station on January 1, 2017 after her daughter was raped by the suspect.

The prosecutor said the mother of the victim revealed that she and her five-year-old daughter visited her sister at Area 11, Garki on the said day and when they were about to leave, her daughter went outside and it was then that Teacher Senior deceived her and took her inside his room where he raped her.

“During police investigation, it was revealed that he removed her trouser and inserted his penis inside her vagina,” Mr. Ayanna said while also adding that; “the offence was contrary to Section 283 of the Penal Code”.

After citing relevant sections of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015, the trial judge, Umar Kagarko, said that rape was a capital offence which attracted a minimum of 25 years in prison.

The trial judge also rejected the defendant’s plea of guilt, ordering that he be remanded in prison till March 1, for the commencement of the trial.

      It’s likely the court will grant him bail, the case has been postponed already.

    How on earth could he have imagining raping such a small girl who he can be her grandfather. That is callous enough.

    That’s the problem I have with our judiciary. Why the delay? What if the judge died before March 1st or the old man dies too? Do they have to postpone all cases?

      I wonder too. Justice delayed is justice denied. That’s the problem of our judiciary. Anything facts they want to get now is obita dictum as the man has admitted he is guilty.

    Some men are animals, they don’t think before they act. By the time the court throws the 70 years old man into prison for 25 years, he’d die in prison, that’s certain
