The Nasarawa State government said on Tuesday at least 43 persons who returned to the state from Lagos have been placed in isolation.

The state government said on Monday it would place on isolation returnees from Lagos and Kano States due to large number of persons infected by COVID-19 in the two states.

While Lagos, regarded as epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic, has 379 confirmed cases, Kano harbours 59 patients.

The state governor, Abdullahi Sule, who disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting in Lafia, said 48 Lagos returnees were arrested in Akwanga Local government area of the state while trying to pass through Lafia to Shendam in Plateau State.

He said the returnees were taken to Jos by security agents and subsequently placed in an isolation facility in the Plateau State capital.
