COVID-19: ‘The situation is serious’, Putin admits as Russia records fourth single day increase

As Russia makes it to seventh highest number of coronavirus cases worldwide, President Vladimir Putin has expressed his frustration after over 10,000 confirmed cases were recorded for the second time in a single day.

With the country’s total number of cases surpassing 100,000, after a dramatic turn around from what was obtainable in March, Putin said “The daily increase in cases has relatively stabilized but this mustn’t calm us down, the situation is still very serious.”

“The peak is not behind us, we are about to face a new and grueling phase of the pandemic…the deadly threat of the virus remains,” he added.

On the other hand, agitated Russian health workers are protesting scarcity of PPE via anonymous videos as dozens of doctors have reportedly fallen sick and hospitals shut down for quarantine.
