Dasuki: Court summons AGF

Published

on

Following complaints made to the Federal High Court, Abuja, by former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, the court, Friday, summoned the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), to appear before it to explain the reason behind the continued occupation of the Asokoro, Abuja home of Dasuki by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS.

According to Justice Adeniyi Ademola, the AGF or his Representative has to explain why the ex-NSA was still at home despite an order that he should be allowed to embark on a three week medical trip abroad.

The judge had, on November 3, ordered the release of Dasuki’s passport to allow him attend to his health in United Kingdom. He was however prevented from travelling and had been under forced house arrest since then.

“Court order must be obeyed,” he said. “What is wrong in the defendant travelling and coming back to face trial? Only a fit person can stand for trial and investigation. My own orders will not be flouted.”

The judge also said he would dispatch his staff to Dasuki’s residence to see for itself the “siege” on Dasuki’s residence as alleged by Joseph Daodu, the accused person’s counsel.

Though Dasuki was not present in court during Friday’s proceedings, the judge adjourned the case to Monday to hear from the AGF why Dasuki is being prevented from traveling.
