Dino Melaye declares for Kogi governorship

The lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye, has declared to contest the Kogi governorship election scheduled for November 16, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He made his intentions known on Saturday during a meeting of Kogi West PDP executives held at the Ayetoro Country home of Major General David Jemibewon (rtd).

The senator while soliciting the support of the party executives, expressed optimism of emerging the next governor of the state.

Melaye’s Media aide, Gideon Ayodele, confirmed this to Punch, stating that the Senator was responding to the call from the PDP leaders present at the meeting, asking anyone interested in contesting to signify intention within two weeks.

About 40 aspirants are said to have indicated interest to contest the governorship election under the platform of the PDP.
