Guinea has witnessed another drawback in its fight against the Ebola epidemic, as the West African country has recorded three new cases of the deadly disease.

According to the Spokesman of the National Centre for Fight Against Ebola, Fode Tass Sylla, on Wednesday, the three were infected in Forecariah in western Guinea from the family of a woman who died of Ebola and whose body was handled without appropriate protection.

“In all, nine sick people are being treated at our centres throughout the country and most are connected to the dead woman,” he told Reuters, saying authorities had known of the three fresh cases since Saturday.

The world’s worst Ebola epidemic broke when a two-year-old boy fell ill in a remote Guinean village on December 26, 2013, killing about 11,300 people in the process.
