Oshiomhole alleges PDP has registered 8,000 militants for election

As political activities geared towards the governorship election in Edo State intensifies, the APC in the state has been thrown into turmoil over allegations that a section of the party is trying to outsmart another.

There are allegations that some members of the state exco have perfected plans to doctor the list of delegates that would participate in the party primaries, to pick the governorship candidate.

Some aspirants aspiring for the party’s ticket had accused the state party chairman, Anselm Ojezua, of being behind the plot to short change them, and install a predetermined candidate.

They had made their fears known in a petition addressed to the national chairman of the party.

But the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Comrade Godwin Erhahon said it is difficult for anybody to alter the delegate list even though the party constitution provided ways for changing any executive member.

Erhahon said at a press briefing in Benin, the state’s capital that a vote of confidence was passed on Ojezua, after the party executive discovered that the alarm raised by the aspirants was false.

According to him, they were convinced by the explanation of the party chairman that no fresh attempt was made to alter the list.

He explained, that all state officials of the party were barred from participating in the political activities of any governorship aspirant so that no aspirant would blame the party executive for failures at the primaries.

According to him, “We have resolved as part of our preparation to setup machineries for holding primaries

reconciliation for all the aspirants. We believed we have this division among us because of the aspirants, once a candidate emerges, he becomes candidate for all the party.”
