Atiku and his promise on restructuring

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s government cannot be taken seriously on the promise to conduct free, fair and credible elections in 2019.

Atiku was reacting to Buhari’s refusal to sign the Electoral Amendment Bill.

Buhari had for the third time withheld his assent to the bill on the excuse that assenting to such a bill at a time election is very close may cause problems.

Reacting to the development on his Twitter page, Atiku called on Nigerians not to believe Buhari’s promise for a free and fair 2019 election.

According to him, Buhari by his action once again failed to make use of an opportunity to fulfill his promise to Nigerians.

“President, assurances that your administration will conduct free, fair and credible elections can not be taken seriously.

“For Nigerians and especially us in the opposition, you just missed an opportunity to walk the talk,” Atiku wrote.

Meanwhile, the Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, condemned Buhari’s decision.

He cautioned Buhari to desist from being part of those who are not in support of credible election.

He also wrote on his Twitter page, “Opposition to the Electoral amendment Bill is a disservice to democracy. The President should not be in league with those allergic to credible elections.

“How can the ruling elites now fear and discard the chariot that delivered them to power, one they showered so much praises?”
