Etebo, Osimhen, Nwakali, Amuneke for Glo-CAF Award

Nigeria U-23 goal hero, Oghenekaro Etebo, and Golden Eaglets duo of Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Nwakali, have been shortlisted for the 2015 Glo-CAF Awards as the Confederation African Football, CAF, on Monday released the nominees for the other categories for the award.

The list was unveiled at a press conference attended by CAF Excutive member Anjorin Moucharafou and Glo representatives in Abuja, Nigeria.

The other categories listed by CAF are; Women Player of the Year, Youth Player of the Year, Most Promising Talent, Coach of the Year, Referee of the Year, African Legend, National Team of the Year, Women National Team of the Year, Club of the Year, Platinum Award.

Etebo, alongside the captain of the U-23 Eagles, Azubuike Okechukwu, were nominated for the Most Promising Talent category while Nwakali and Osimhen who were instrumental to Nigeria winning the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup were listed for Youth Player of the Year award.

Super Falcons and PSG Ladies of France defender, Ebere Ngozi, has been listed for the Women Player of the Year category while the U-17 Golden Eaglets and newly crown U-23 AFCON champions, the U-23 Eagles will battle Cote d’Ivoire senior team, Ghana team and Mali U-17 team for the National Team of the Year award.

Also listed for the Award is Golden Eaglets winning Coach, Emmanuel Amunike, who is being considered for the coach of the year.

The winners will be decided by votes from the CAF Footbal and Media Committees except Legend and Platinum awards, which are not subject to vote while Referee of the Year Award will be decided by the votes of CAF Refereeing Committee.

Similarly, the top three contenders for the 2015 African Player of the Year are: Andre Ayew (Ghana/ Swansea City), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Gabon/ Borussia Dortmund) and Yaya Toure (Cote d”Ivoire/ Manchester City).

The winner will be decided by votes from Head Coaches or Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to CAF at the Glo-CAF Awards Gala scheduled for Thursday, January 7, 2016 in Abuja, Nigeria.
