Extradition: Bode George’s wife’s NDLEA storms Kashamu’s residence

Officials of the Nigeria Drug and Law Enforcement Agent (NDLEA) on Saturday morning stormed the Lagos residence of PDP Senator-elect, Buruju Kashamu, to effect his arrest, over an extradition request from the United States of America.

It was gathered that as early as 5a.m. the anti-drug agency stormed Kashamu’s residence in Lekki Phase I, Lagos, but met resistance from the security personnel. The NDLEA operatives reportedly surrounded the residence and had to pull down the gate to gain entrance.

Kashamu is alleged to be hiding in an underground part of the house. “There is possibility that he is hiding in an underground in the house. But we will fish him out,” a source said.

In a quick reaction, Kashamu’s media aide, Austin Oniyorkor, said the “onslaught is a confirmation of the alleged plot to illegally abduct him in spite of the pending suit against this illegality. As a matter of fact, the court has ordered parties in the matter including the NDLEA to maintain status quo until judgment is delivered on Wednesday 27th May 2015.

According to him, “this illegality is being designed and executed by Chief Bode George whose wife is the Director General of the NDLEA, all in a bid to score cheap political points.

Kashamu had been battling to stop his arrest and extradition to the US to face charges, even as he claimed that he was freed by a court in that country earlier. Reports say a case involving him comes up in the US on Wednesday.
