The Federal Executive Council during its Wednesday meeting deliberated on the seeming feud involving Acting President Yemi Osinbajo and the Senate.
The FEC it was learnt has resolved to wade into the matter in order to bring a lasting solution to it.
This was revealed to State House correspondents by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed when he briefed them after the FEC meeting.
The minister, who did not disclose how FEC wants to intervene in the matter, or how it plans to resolve it, however informed the newsmen that there was proper approach by the government to resolve any disagreement amongst the three arms of government.
According to the minister, FEC during the meeting also reviewed the anti-corruption fight which is one of the major focus of the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
He added that there was a resolution to ensure that mechanism for enforcement and sanctions on those that fall short of the law are put in place.
The face-off between the Senate and the Acting President got heightened on Tuesday after the lawmakers during their plenary hinted on not shying away from impeaching Osinbajo if he fails to sack the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC’s) acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu.
They also vowed not to approve any appointment from the presidency until Magu is removed as the EFCC boss.
The Senate position followed the continuation of Magu as the anti-graft agency’s chairman months after it rejected his nomination and asked the presidency to remove him.
