The Chief of Army Staff, Nigerian Army, Lt.-General Tukur Buratai, has disclosed that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government is currently acquiring and installing fresh technologies in the fight against Boko Haram.
This he said has been made possible through a Federal Government collaboration with countries as the United States (US), Israel, United Kingdom (UK), Jordan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He said in addition that the above countries are also assisting in the area of capacity building for personnel of the Armed Forces.

Buratai made this disclosure when he spoke during the opening of a four-day international seminar on Managing Asymmetric Security Challenges in the 21st Century at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja.

Although he did not reveal the categories of technologies that are being purchased to defeat the terrorist group in the North East, he however vowed that the Army under his leadership, in partnership with the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Air Force, has substantially degraded Boko Haram.

While he also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for providing needed resources to the fight against insurgency, he assured that the armed forces would never relent investing in capacity building for its personnel to ensure they are updated in skills and knowledge.

“Let me observe that the array of participants in this seminar which cuts across members of the academia, military and other security actors both from within and outside Nigeria clearly shows the seriousness and concern we accord the issue of managing asymmetric security challenges in particular and world peace in general.

“Let me at this point commend the Nigerian Army Resource Centre for taking this bold step to translate an idea earlier conceived by me into reality,” Buratai said.

Earlier, while opening the seminar, the Minister of Defence, Mansur Mohammed Dan Ali, represented by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Abayomi Olonisakin, said the seminar was timely.

He said, “This is particularly against the backdrop of our recent experience in responding to the Boko Haram-led insurgency in the Northeast and the grievances induced militancy in the Niger Delta. It is pertinent to say that managing these challenges revolve around the intricate interplay of hard and soft power.”

Countries taking part in the seminar are UK, US, Bangladesh, Cameroun, India, Mali, Niger and Pakistan.

The army that abandoned his men with substandard ammunition will always feed the world with a lot of lies. There are many Nigerian army officials who didn’t get equipment when they were sent to the battle field to fight Boko Haram, what did Nigeria army do to equip them? Nothing, how are we now going Tobi believe this government is investing in sophisticated tools to enhance the fight against Boko Haram?

“Countries taking part in the seminar are UK, US, Bangladesh, Cameroun, India, Mali, Niger and Pakistan,” it is expected the army gives credit to Buhari’s government and speak positive of it. We the citizens of Nigeria know the truths and the lies

Is it not visible enough that the Buhari government is going everything to end Boko Haram insurgency? How many times in recent times has Boko Haram successfully carried out their operations? Boko Haram is no more
