Firm hopes to turn Jos into tech centre for Northern Nigeria

The cold city of Jos, the capital of Plateau State is being eyed as a tech outsourcing centre for Northern Nigeria.

A technology firm, nHub Incubator and Accelerator Ltd, keen on nurturing technology start-ups hopes to make the dream a reality in the nearest future.

That much was revealed by Theodore Longji, Lead, research and development, at nHub in an interview with Technology Times where he informed that the technology idea incubator and accelerator hub put up in Jos was set up to assist young people with great ideas to launch and establish their businesses by providing them with needed support.

Longji also revealed that nHub is working with an aim to transform Jos into a technology outsourcing centre for Northern Nigeria, hinting that the hub has set up plans to achieve this objective.

“We will look at the viability of the idea before we move further. First, is the idea solving a problem? If yes, how big? This is because most problems are not big enough, so people have a way around them. Then, does this idea need a technology? Has the idea been properly researched and who is the customer? We begin development and usability test. If that is successful, then we launch the product,” he stated.

He explained that when a young person with an idea that needs technology to launch comes to nHub, the idea passes through a number of assessments to ensure its viability, and subsequently assist the person with the technology and seed funding to launch.
