Forget Boko Haram, deal with Avengers, Ango Abdullahi tells Buhari

A former presidential adviser, Prof Ango Abdulahi, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to stop the current war against terrorism and face the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA.
According to the former Special Adviser to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo on Food Security, the Federal Government should first tackle the Avengers before taking on Boko Haram, saying the greatest challenge to national security was the Avengers.
Abdullahi, who spoke at a book launch in Abuja on Tuesday, said: “If we find truly that we cannot peacefully develop this country, the solution is to go our separate ways, why not?
“Even now, we are not happy with the kind of standard of security that is being applied in the country. If you are not going to fight Avengers, you should stop fighting Boko Haram.”
The former university don and member of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) also blamed politicians for the nation’s woes, adding that any government that cannot ensure the well being of its people has no legitimacy and cannot be called a government.
“Nigeria has not made the kind of progress that was expected of it since its independence after 56 years.  We must take into account that we are responsible for these.
“Nigeria has signed so many protocols that are injurious to her, there is need to review some of these protocols”, Abdullahi said.
