FRANCE: Driver rams car into group of students, injures 3, one in critical condition

Cops in France have nabbed a yet-to-be identified 28-year-old man after he rammed into a group of people outside a school near Toulouse in southern France on Friday, injuring three Chinese students, with one of them said to be in critical condition.

According to French police, the driver of the vehicle who was arrested at the scene of the incident was known to police for committing minor offences but was not on a terrorism watch-list.

“For the moment, it is not being looked at as a terrorist incident although it is also not ruled out,” the Toulouse prosecutor said in a statement.

After the incident, Toulouse Mayor Jean-Luc Moudenc tweeted (in French) saying: “Very shocked by the aggression towards the students in Blagnac. We offer all our support to them and their loved ones.”

The injured students, said to be aged 22 and 23, have been taken to hospital in Toulouse with one of the injured said to be in a serious condition and being treated for severe head injuries.
