Govs, state speakers in emergency meeting at Aso Villa

Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) are presently having an emergency meeting inside the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Although not much is known about the reason for the meeting which has speakers of all States Houses of Assembly in attendance, speculations are rife that the meeting may not be unconnected with the planned review of the 1999 Constitution.

The chairman of NGF and governor of Zamfara State, Abdulazeez Yari, is presiding over the meeting.

Following the resolution of Conference of Speakers, December 20, was given as deadline by which all houses of assembly must conclude debate on the proposed amendments sent to the states by the National Assembly.
