N'KOREA: Trump tones down on harsh rhetoric but warns of US power

President Donald Trump of the United States of America has squarely placed blame on the slow pace of response to recovery from the devastating effect of hurricane Maria at the door step of Puerto Ricans.

His comments are coming a day after the Mayor of San Juan, Carmen Yulin Cruz while pleading for international aid as Puerto Rico recovers from hurricane Maria’s ruinous aftermath, accused the administration of Trump of “killing us with the inefficiency”.

Trump, who plans to visit the island on Tuesday, fired a series of angry tweets from his private golf club in New Jersey, taking aim at the mayor of San Juan, the island’s capital and largest city.

“Such poor leadership by the Mayor of San Juan and others in Puerto Rico who are not able to get their workers to help,” said Trump, a Republican. “They want everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort.”

Trump also accused Cruz of being “told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump” and blamed the media for not showing the “amazing job” of responders.

According to reports, telecommunications are back for about 30 percent of the island, nearly half of the supermarkets have reopened at least for reduced hours, and about 60 percent of the petrol stations are pumping.
