Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo, has praised manager Quique Sanchez Flores’ game plan which he described as the inspiration behind the team’s a 2-0 victory over Norwich City on Saturday.

Ighalo, who scored his ninth goal of the season in Saturday’s Watford’s 2-0 win over Norwich, also attributed the team’s success to teamwork.

“The teamwork has been great, you see the way we have been pushing ourselves and the team really worked hard from the first minute until the last minute today. We can’t single out any player today because from Heurelho to the top, everybody really worked hard and we deserved the three points,” he told the club’s official website.

“We are happy and we just want to forget about today now because it’s gone. We are thinking about the next game because we want to try and win games. We know we’re going to have some difficult times, but if we keep picking up points now, we know we are going to be safe at the end of the season,” he added.

Meanwhile, Manager Quique Sanchez Flores has praised the importance of Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo following the game, but said he’s not concerned that the team had to rely on them at the minute for goals.

“Deeney is always ready to take the penalty in every situation, so it was very important to score because after we can manage the match. I think we had very clear chances before Ighalo’s goal. He had two or three very good chances but every time we score it is very good for the team,” he told Skysports.

“The word in the dressing room is not ‘relegation’. Our target is to be competitive. We are not in a hurry to think about what will happen in January or February, we are just thinking about Sunderland

“We have worked very hard since the beginning and we never talk about being at the bottom of the league. We are always talking about the next match, this is our mentality and we are happy with it as it’s working.

With tricky weather conditions at Vicarage Road, Flores admitted it was difficult for both sides to get a rhythm in their normal style of play, but he was pleased with how his team coped with it.

‘The conditions were very bad for both teams to play with; the wind it was difficult. It changed the path of the ball all the time so it was very difficult for the players to play a pass and keep control of it.’
