Ihedioha presents N198bn budget proposal for 2020 to state assembly

Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, on Wednesday, presented a budget proposal of N197,607,272,328 to the state House of Assembly, in Owerri, the state capital.

Tagged ‘Rebuild Imo Budget One’, Ihedioha said the proposal was to help to rebuild the key sectors of the state’s economy.

The governor further revealed that recurrent expenditure would gulp N91,337,822,128, while N106,229,450,200 would be expended in capital expenditure.

According to the governor, health, job creation, ease of doing business, infrastructural development and agriculture would receive priority attention, adding that there would be value for money and transparency in governance if the 2020 budget estimates were approved by the lawmakers.

He said: “As I indicated in my inaugural address, we have commenced the rebuilding and upgrading of the four technical colleges in the state under our Technical and Vocational Education Training programme.

“Our target is that by 2020, we should have hit a 60 per cent mark of post-basic students as enrolees in the TVET system.”

Ihedioha value further revealed that his administration was giving attention to capacity building in technology.

He said: “For instance, we facilitated the training of 200 teachers in Microsoft Office and basic Internet skills by Digital Bridge Institute, a training arm of the Nigerian Communications Commission.”
