Jonathan meets IBB behind closed-doors, describes self as retired politician

Immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday had a closed-door meeting with former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida (retd.)

He had at the close of the meeting told journalists that he is now a retired politician.

The meeting held at the uphill residence of Babangida in Minna, the Niger State capital and was said to have lasted for over two hours.

It was learnt that Jonathan arrived Babangida’s residence at about 10:00am in a GMC bulletproof SUV with registration number ABJ 961ER, in the company of Senator Nimi Barigha Amange, who once represented Bayelsa East in the Senate and some other persons.

Jonathan was said to have met with Babangida alone between the hours of 10:00am when he arrived till about 12:14pm.
When accosted by newsmen, Jonathan declined to disclose the details of his visit but only told them that his visit was private. He however said, following the insistence of the inquisitive newsmen, that he felt he should come and visit General Babangida as he had not seen him since he returned from medical vacation.

“You people are doing well” he told the newsmen apparently to free himself from more questions.

But not done with him, the newsmen asked him to comment on the current political situation in the country, to which he said, “We are retired politicians” then drove off.
