Kaduna govt confirms 5 new cases of COVID-19

The Kaduna State government has confirmed that it has recorded five new cases of the deadly COVID-19 disease in the state on Sunday.

In a statement shared via his Twitter account on Monday, Governor El-Rufai said that the Commissioner of Health in the state, Dr AMBaloni, confirmed that the cases are five Almajiri children recently repatriated from Kano.

He further informed that the State has so far tested 142 persons for the virus.

“Five new cases of Coronavirus as at April 26, 2020; 142 tested, 15 confirmed cases, 6 discharged, 9 active cases, 0 deaths. Stay home and stop the spread,” El-Rufai tweeted.

Earlier, the government of Kaduna State had frowned at the development in the state where citizens now opt to deal with criminals themselves rather than allow the law take care of such.

The state through its Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, therefore warned citizens not to turn the state into a Banana Republic, by resorting to self-help.

He spoke on Sunday at Kajuru during a security meeting following renewed violence in the area.
