KANO: Kingmakers ask court to stop Ganduje from deposing Sanusi

Published

on

The battle to save the Emir of Kano, Muhammed Sanusi II is far from over as Kingmakers in the emirate on Tuesday prayed a Kano State High Court to stop the state Governor, Abdulahi Ganduje from deposing him.

This formed part of the prayers of the Kingmakers in a motion on notice before the court.

They are also seeking an injunction to restrain Ganduje from inaugurating the state council of chiefs.

The kingmakers also prayed the court to restrain the traditional rulers, who constitute the membership of the state council of chiefs, from parading themselves in such capacities, pursuant to the newly-promulgated Kano State Emirates Council Laws, 2019.

Led by Yususf Nabahani (Madakin Kano), the plaintiffs said the court to take cognizance of a subsisting suit challenging the creation of four new emirates by Ganduje.

They are also praying the court to stop Ganduje from inaugurating the newly constituted council of chief, pending the determination of the suit.

The Kingmakers also want the court to grant them an order to restrain the Emir of Kano from presiding over the inauguration and the maiden meeting of the Kano State Council of Chiefs.
