Tinubu personifies everything that is wrong with the Nigerian system, Saraki fires back

Following the declaration the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, as winner of the Kwara governorship polls, Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has congratulated him.

While Saraki’s preferred candidate, Razaq Atunwa of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), recorded only 114,754, Abdulrasaq won the March 9 elections with 331,546 votes out of a total of 453, 433 votes.

Saraki said, “I thank all Kwarans, particularly PDP supporters, who worked for the party in the just concluded elections. My congratulations go to Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq and all those who emerged at all levels. I wish them all the best,” Saraki said in a social media post.

The APC recorded an all round victory as they defeated the PDP in all contested positions in the state. They won all 24 House of Assembly seats in the state, similar to the February 23 elections where they carted all National Assembly seats.

Saraki had lost his bid to represent the Kwara Central Senatorial district to Ibrahim Oloriegbe of the APC in what many considered the end of the stranglehold of the Saraki family on the political affairs of the North Central state.

Abdulrazaq is now expected to succeed Abdulfattah Ahmed as the governor of the state on May 29.
